All about Matthew at One Year
Matthew enjoyed his first slice of watermelon this last week. The other kids finished theirs and ran off to play while Matthew sat and slurped on his slice for quite some time, probably amazed that this huge piece was all for him.

All about Matthew at 12 months...
- Says "Momma, Momma" on command
- Says "Ohhhh" and "Da" and "Ni" and a few other sounds but no real word
- Chooses to WALK instead of crawl at least half the time but is slow and loses his balance a lot
- Loves to be thrown up in the air
- Giggles when we throw him on the bed
- Loves to give kisses -- puts his lips together and says 'Mmmm" while leaning in for a kiss
- Loves to throw and crawl after a ball
- Gives really good hugs
- Eats almost all table food -- no more baby food!
- Is just weaned and now drinks mostly from a sippy cup... he taught himself by picking up Luke's cup and figuring it out himself
- Loves to see the kids come home from school
- Still sleeps in a portable crib in our closet... (for only 1 more night!)
- Takes 2 good naps a day... (sometimes 3)
- Bedtime is between 8:30 and 9:00 He sleeps all night and wakes up between 7:30 and 8:00.
- Likes to watch the beginning of Mickey Mouse Club House
- Likes having showers with Dad or baths with Luke
- Loves to be chased... but sometimes charges straight for us instead of crawling away.
- Loves to do 'Nigh-night' by resting his head on a pillow or your shoulder and then 'AWAKE' by raising his head back up. The kids love to do it with him and he smiles the whole time.
- Knows how to crawl all the way upstairs (has known how to for a couple months) but doesn't know how to get back down
- Stands up when I approach - I think he thinks he'll be easier to pick up if he's standing. He's right, he's just too cute to resist.
- Sits facing forward in the car now... gets excited and slaps his tummy when we open the door to get him out
- Nods his head 'yes' whenever we ask him a question -- especially if that question has 'drink' or 'eat' in it. The kids make him answers all kinds of questions and then giggle. So cute.
- Smiles all the time -- Such a good happy kid
