Annecy, France
After Ribeauville and Riquewihr in the Alsace Region we headed south five hours and stayed overnight in Annecy, France. Once checked into our cute hotel, we left the kids and Chris and I wandered the town at night heading to see the Museum of Annecy, which “serenely sits like the prow of a ship through the heart of the Thiou River.” (Rick Steves) It used to be a prison and then held French Resistance fighters during World War II. It was fun to amble through the canals and arcaded streets alone with my hubby. Boy do I love having kids who can stay at home without us.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
The next morning we headed to a local bakery for breakfast and then sang to Megan… our newest 8 year old! So fun to have a birthday in France!! No birthday cake for this girl, she got to pick out her own chocolate pastry covered with M&M’s –and eat it for breakfast!
Wandering down this cobbled street we thought we’d find a numbered door with all the kids ages. Brianna and Ryan: 14, Austin and Katie: 12, Emily 10, Megan 8, Luke 5 and Matthew 3!
Back in the car we let Megan open the one Birthday present we brought on the trip… a Tiger pillow pet (Nici brand – our favorite German stuffed animals). It was a hit. She LOVED it and it was so much fun for her to have it traveling around France. Happy Birthday to our sweet Megan girl!!
