Mexico–Fishing Excursion and Lunch in the town of Punta de Mita

Punta Mita-93

Chris and I opened our glass wall to the balcony to watch the sun rise as we got ready for the day.  The boys skipped their morning lectures and were at the Punta de Mita fishing boats by 8:00. A teenage boy met us and ferried us to our fishing boat which was already out in the bay.

The fishing excursion was really fun – BUT it made Chris and I seasick.  We are no fishermen!   As long as I was lying down I felt ok.  It was fun to watch everyone catch fish though.

Geneva caught a big tuna which had to be clubbed SEVERAL times by our main fishermen before it would stop flopping around and Geneva could hold it. Yuck!  But while she was holding it, it moved and Geneva was so freaked out and she dropped it, splattering blood all over her legs and the boat.  It was pretty funny.

While speeding back to the shore several birds flew along above us and would swoop down to the water to get fish.  It was fun to watch them.

We walked through the streets and into a pharmacy – the boys looking for the magic ‘Mexican cream’ that they don’t sell in the US – and asked the doctor where to eat.  He told us to go to Si Senor – a great recommendation!

We had homemade guacamole and salsa made at the table, Shrimp tacos with pineapple, Green Chili Enchiladas and guava sherbet.
