Mike and Carly–Cave of the Winds
Since Mike and Carly were here we decided to check out something new… Cave of the Winds, set along Williams Canyon in Manitou Springs.
LANTERN TOUR
Mike, Megan started with the Lantern Tour – exploring passageways and formations lit only by hand-held lanterns that we carried around. Really fun to wander around!
TERROR-DACTYL FREEFALL
Chris and the other kids joined us later in the afternoon when their activities were finished. Several of us got to try the Terror-Dactyl. It sits on the edge of a 200-foot cliff. After you are strapped in and rotated so that you face the canyon below (yikes) the workers count down from 5… but release you at 3… AHHHHH!!!! After a 150 foot drop into the canyon at nearly 100 miles per hour, and a scream that doesn’t last as long as the drop does, you finally move from a free fall into a swing. It really was such a great ride. Mike and Carly went first…
Then Carly and I went…
and Megan watched cute Whitney…
while Mike used his drone to make a video of our day.
Then Chris and Emily gave it a try. This girl is brave!
BAT-A-PULT
Megan, Luke and Matt were pretty excited to try out the Bat-a-pult. A quick little zip line along the Williams Canyon and back.
DISCOVERY TOUR
Next we all went on the Discovery Tour – this time no lanterns – just lit pathways through nearly a half mile of caverns. Really fun.
WIND WALKER CHALLENGE COURSE
Everyone was pretty excited to get all harnessed up and try the challenge course. That top section is trickier than it looks – especially on the edge right over the Canyon.
