Weekend with the Chuggs
We haven’t spend some good time with the Chuggs for a long time. We’ve seen Jared and Geneva but our families have really missed each other. We decided to hook up for a quick 36 hour mini-vacation in Provo, Utah.
Chris and the kids and I drove half way on Thursday night and stayed at our Marriott Residence Inn in Grand Junction. We ate breakfast at the hotel and then drove the rest of the way to Provo. We met the Chuggs at Cubbies, a new fun restaurant with salads and sandwiches. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen the Chugg kids so even though matt and Luke have been so excited to see Cole, they didn’t know quite how to react to him. It only took them through lunchtime to warm up to each other again.
Then we headed to Jaker’s Pumpkin Patch. The kids ran through the corn maze, and played in the corn kernels, picked out pumpkins, and tried pumpkin spice donuts. It was a great pumpkin patch in Mapleton.
After the pumpkin patch we checked into our hotel together. We always have so many options for places to stay but it was really fun to spend time just with them and having it be in a hotel just made it even more fun. The little boys kept saying, this is the best Chugg Johnson vacation ever – which is pretty funny since we’ve traveled Europe together.
We left the kids at one of the rooms to play games and Jared, Geneva, Chris and I headed to Pizza Factory to pick up pizza’s for everyone. It was fun for the four of us to have some time to talk without the kids there. We ate pizza back at the hotel, and then headed over to the Smith Fieldhouse on BYU Campus to watch the women’s volleyball team play. They played a really hard team and ended up losing but it was really fun to watch and cheer.
Then we headed downtown Provo to Rockwells Ice Cream and then headed back to the hotel to swim at the hotel pool until it closed at 11:00 pm. We really packed it in! And it was exhausting but so fun.
Saturday we slept in a bit, and met the Chugg’s downstairs for breakfast at the hotel. Then we headed over to THE WALL, which is a cool hang out diner in the Wilkinson Center where Carter works. Fun to see him there. Then we headed upstairs to the BYU bookstore, back to THE WALL for lunch and then over to the stadium for the BYU football game.
It was a gorgeous day and such a fun game. Scott, Elisha, and kids ended up meeting us there as well and were able to sit with us since the crowd was a little bit thinner than normal. We ate mint brownies and cheered the cougars on to victory. Boy was it fun!
After the game we went over to a park to hang out for a bit, then met Brian and Terri Breinholt at Los Hermanos and had a great time catching up with them. We had the whole basement to ourselves pretty much and so stayed for a long time. Finally at 9:00 we left and headed up to Grandma’s house to spend the night.
