Mother’s Day

I had a great Mother’s Day.  Once we were all ready for church,  I opened my cards and presents and sat down with everyone at the table to eat yummy chocolate croissants and fruit from our Mother’s Day boxes.  Then we took pictures while we waited and waited for Elder Johnson to skype.  It was so fun to talk to him.  We all screamed as soon as we answered the skype call and he laughed.  We chatted about his new area, Durres, met his new companion, Elder Ferguson, talked about the trip we have planned to Albania, BYU major and classes and a little about what everyone was up to.  It was so great to talk with him.  Can’t wait till we can see him in person.  Only 2 1/2 months left!  We took a group picture with him

I’m so grateful to be mother to these six kids.  Such a blessing!  Love each one of them more than I can say.  So grateful for cards that make me cry (my very favorite present), herbs and a brown stained box from Matt, a keychain from Emily and Megan, The Greatest Showman from Kates, Luke and Matt and roses, a cake and a giftcard to Modern Market from Chris.

After taking a picture with him we turned the computer around to talk to him for a few more minutes.  He bore his testimony of the Book of Mormon and truthfulness of the gospel – which is how he has ended every skype session.  Love this missionary so much!

When we finished skyping, we ran out the door to catch the last bit of church.  The RS women were gathered together eating a salad bar luncheon and talking about Ministering.  Great to be there and see friends.  After church I enjoyed skyping my mom, talking with my kids, making a homemade salad that I copied from my favorite restaurant Modern Market, editing pictures and eating a Nothing Bundt Cake -- chocolate chocolate chip ---  for a treat.  Love my family.

Thoughtful Mother’s Day cards…

From Matthew…

I love you the bluest.

I love you the color of the beautiful sky.

I love you the color of the blooming blossoms.

Sweet blueberries ready to be eaten.

The awesome BYU cougarettes.

A shiny blue car.

I love you the bluest because you are you.

Love Matt.

From Luke…

Dear Mom,  I remember when I threw up on your hair when I was little.  I love how you always tuck me in at night.  You are the best mom ever!  I love you soooo much!  I am so proud to be your son!  Love Luke.

From Megan…

a poem written for our Poetry and Tea event earlier in the week:

Lisa is a terrific mother, she loves each of us like no other,

Her life is a party with her six kids, she is very excited to have grandkids.

Lisa is organized and beautiful, We must always listen and be dutiful,

She is very creative and loving. When we’re scared, she’ll be coming.

One kid, two kid, three kid, four, She is very glad that she has no more.

She cleans the house and gives us food. We help her by not being in a mood.

My mother is cool, I love her so.  She is the greatest woman that I know.

and a beautiful card that made me cry…

“ A lot of what I love about being family starts with you.  You’re the heart of everything we are – the one we talk to about things that matter, the one we come to for that special kind of tender loving care…  and even though I’m grateful for all you do as a mom, I never want to forget the woman you are – someone who’s pretty amazing… and someone I love with all my heart.”    Mom, I love you.  You are such a great example to me.  You are so beautiful and I hope to be like you someday.  Happy Mother’s Day!  Love Megan

From Emily…

Mom! I love you so much!  You are the best Mom i could have asked for.  I love how you live your life so smartly and intentionally.  You are so beautiful and raise your kids so well!  Thank you for all you do for me.  Love you!!  Love Emily

From Katie…

Momma Momma Momma!  Dear mom, I love you so so much – more than you will ever know.  I thank God that he put me in this family with you even though I don’t deserve to have such an awesome mom.  You are so funny and such a great listener.  Obviously, all your kids adore you.  You are also extremely wise and experienced – especially with parenting.  I love that everything is intentional.  You should give TED talks! You give me so much Mom, and I am super grateful.  You are super chill and let me do mostly whatever I want.  It’s really sad because I am goin g to miss you so much when I am gone at BYU.  Don’t worry – I will call you all the time, probably with stupid questions about how to be an adult.  ha ha  When I’m a mom, I hope I’m as cool as you are – but I doubt it.  I can’t wait for you to come out and help with my babies – but I’m getting a little ahead of myself.  But I’m also grateful for you and Dad and how amazing you work together.  Thanks for everything Mom.  You are my #1 role model.  If you jumped off a cliff, I probably would too.  jk.  This is all 100% true.  I love you forever.  Happy Mother’s Day.   Love Katie J

From Dad… (which also made me cry.  Really cry.)

“For my wife – My beautiful partner in living, in loving, in raising a family.  Happy Mother’s Day!”

Lisa, you are my best friends and I love doing everything with you.  I am so blessed to have such a lovely, faithful, devoted, positive, fun, happy, and dedicated wife and mother of my children.  I love that we are both so committed to finding new ways to improve our lives and our health and our parenting and our happiness.  I love you more every day.  Love, Chris
