Girls Trip - Marken, Netherlands

Driving into Marken… a small port town along the Markermeer - a bay of water on the North side of the Netherlands. Heidi had been before, but no one else had so it was fun to explore something new. The town was quaint with lots of green buildings with orange roofs, and plenty of wooden shoes filled with flowers.

The town was decorated with orange, yellow, blue and red flags in honor of their country’s colors.

We wandered in and out of some cheese shops to have samples, and found a wooden shoe factory and souvenir shop, which was really fun.

The umbrellas came out for part of our walk through the city and then it cleared up just a bit when we got to the harbor… Such a cool little town.

We squished around a table at harbor restaurant and ordered salads soups and bread ‘lolly pops’. Nice to relax for awhile.

Heidi bought us poffertjes to share and they were DELICIOUS!

Melissa is cracking me up in this photo. She loved the dutch doors everyone and had to act out calling her children to come eat. : ) And there she is with her bread stick lolly pops.

I loved driving through the town on our way out of Marken. Such cool streets. You can see Heidi’s big black rental van driving in front of us.
