Portugal Trip - Nazaré

Scott suggested that we look into stopping in Nazaré. By driving in a back way we drove right on to the cliff’s edge and parked right by the Farol Lighthouse. Panaramic views of the North beach were definitely impressive.

In the winter, this bluff will be filled with gawking spectators witnessing one of the great surfing spectacles of our planet: little watercraft towing adrenalin-junkie, world-class surfers out to catch 80-foot waves. Surfers around the world regard Nazaré as the home of the ultimate thrill. Rick Steven - Portugal Book

We watched multiple amazing videos on YouTube and couldn’t believe the height of the waves.

From the top where the lighthouse sits, we headed down the stairs to a lower landing of the cliff. We turned back to see the city of Nazaré behind us and sat to watch the waves crash against the rocks in front of us.

We headed down to walk along the beach. It definitely wasn’t as hot here as it had been in Lagos, but still beautiful and mesmerizing.

One of the best parts of our exploring was finding this old ladder that led us back up the cliff. It was a great stop!
