Denver Trip for Maggie's Graduation
Taking a graduation trip during the early months of COVID was not really an option. Megan and Maggie had talked about heading to Seattle or San Francisco to explore a new city to celebrate but then settled on a couple of days downtown Denver. Maggie invited Abby, Brynn and Emily for two nights at the Westin, lots of shopping and exploring the city. Megan was nice enough to let me come along too. It was so fun!
Chris dropped Emily and I off at the hotel on Sunday night on our way home from Utah — which turned out to be perfect timing. The girls got into robes and hung out in one of the lounges. Megan and I relaxed in our room and talked for hours.
The next morning Megan ran through the city and later I headed to the workout room. At 9:30 we met the girls and headed out to explore the city.
Breakfast at Syrup
Everyone loved their breakfast. It was a fun place to eat and just a couple blocks from our hotel. I couldn’t resist the French Toast. Emily picked a green chili breakfast omelet and Maggie got her beignets free since it was her BIRTHDAY!
After breakfast we headed back to the hotel. The girls relaxed for a minute and Megan and I signed up for ACT tests after an hour wait online.
Shopping on 16th Street
Each of the girls found something fun to get at H&M. After shopping and a milkshake we headed back to the hotel so the girls could try on their clothes and do a little fashion show. It’s so fun to be staying right downtown so we can relax and escape the heat whenever we want to.
Larimer Square
Larimer Square has been newly transformed into a pedestrian only street and is decorated with Colorado flags, lights and painted roads. It was so fun to walk around and take pictures. Especially loved the back alley with colored fabric flags and a black lives matter pennant right by a super trendy French restaurant. So fun to explore.
Dinner at La Loma
Maggie picked a fun Mexican restaurant for her birthday dinner and Megan was nice enough to pay for all of us. Great food and the BEST free birthday churros with hot fudge sauce.
Swimming at the Pool
The Westin downtown had a pool and balcony area on the 4th floor. After dinner the girls were excited to swim until after the sun went down.
Breakfast pastries at Morning Jones
Maggie and Megan found a cute place to eat and walk around called Dairy Block. We decided chocolate croissants, muffins and even chocolate cookies at Morning Jones sounded good for our on-the-go breakfast.
Best Friends - Emily and Maggie
We had fun looking through some expensive boutiques near the Dairy Block and then made our way back over to Union Station. Definitely one of my favorite new areas in Denver.
Union Station
One of my favorite things in Denver is wandering through Union Station. It’s such a cool building. It was fairly empty today with guards wandering around to enforce masks. They did tell us we could take them off for pictures.
The Milkbox Creamery
I just can’t come here without getting some ice cream from the Milkbox Creamery. Salted Carmel Peanut Butter Cup. SO GOOD! After ice cream we walked back to the hotel, checked out and headed to Cherry Creek Mall for a full afternoon of shopping. Madewell, JCrew, H&M returns, Restoration Hardware and more. We were T-I-R-E-D when we finished. Andrea and Kara joined us for shopping and then dinner at , which was so fun.
This was one needed girls trip. Love these friends!
