Granby, Colorado with the Richins
This was the view from our 4 bedroom vacation home in Granby, Colorado. Pretty impressive. We enjoyed church at home and then packed up and left the house around 1:30 on Sunday and checked in at 4:00. We unpacked and immediately started some Dominion Games before the Richins arrived at 7:00. Then we ate dinner and headed on a walk.
Love these girls together.
Monarch Lake Loop Trail
A great hike around Monarch Lake. The boys were way ahead, the girls laughed about making certain poses when I took their pictures, and Amy and I had great talks interrupted by beautiful views.
Picnic Lunch and Paddle boarding on Monarch Lake
Pickle sandwich, anyone? We sure do love pickles around here. Ha ha After the hike we found a great picnic spot by Monarch Lake and decided to hang out for the afternoon. We made sandwiches, relaxed in hammocks, explored the nearby islands on paddle boards and kayaks, snacked on cherries and swam and played in the sand. It was a perfect afternoon — and with the best view!
The Richins brought their two paddle boards and we brought out paddle board and kayak. They were all used all the time!
Chris and I spent a lot of time out on the paddle board together exploring the island and our little cove. So fun.
So glad to be here with good friends.
Texas Pile Up for Dinner
We made our new favorite meal for dinner— I’m calling it Texas Pile Up… and it was a hit. My sister Amy introduced it to us while we were together in July. She moved to Texas a month ago and someone brought it to them when they moved in. It’s been a favorite of theirs ever since.
After dinner we played soccer at the park, enjoyed the hot tub and played some funny Jackbox games.
Hike to the River
A quick 1 mile hike down to the river. Fun to walk along the water and stop to build a little dam.
Excursion to Grand Lake with the Girls
Fun to wander the streets and shops of Grand Lake with Emily, Megan and Lizzy.
We got ice cream from Polly’s Sweet Shop. Best decision ever. The salted caramel was so good.
Lizzy, Megan and Em
The Megan Photoshoot
This funny girl pushed the others aside and kept posing. Love her.
Golfing and Chatting
On Tuesday afternoon Chris and Scott golfed the course right by the house and we got to watch them play from the porch.
We had a great dinner and spent the evening having great conversations. Grateful for such good friends and being together.
Goodbye to Ryan
Ryan had driven his car to Granby packed and ready to head back to Provo. On Wednesday morning we checked out and said our goodbyes before he traveled to Utah and we spent a few more hours at the lake. It’s been so good to have Ryan home for an extended summer. Everything is just better when he’s around. But it’s just time to go back. He’s going to love being there in the fall.
