Matthew's Birthday Party

After Megan’s 16th Birthday party, then Matt was anxious to start making plans for his birthday celebrations. He decided he wanted to have a boy/girl party with donuts and rootbeer floats. We ended up keeping Megan’s balloon arch and replacing the green balloons with two shades of blue - and it worked great.

We had beautiful weather so we set up the food outside since we would be spending most of our time in the backyard — but then the wind picked up and chips went flying, so Megan Dad and I quickly moved things inside.

The Gang

Jane, Trey, Ammon, Luke, Hyrum, Jack, Brock, Paige —— Caden, Matt, Sarah, Jane —— Cade, Kenzie, Jackson, Riley and Preslee

As the kids arrived they played Kubb, Bocce and then some Missionary Tag, led by Megan. Some of the boys had a great time hanging out with girls but some of them wouldn’t even link arms. Too embarrassing!! It was pretty funny.

Photo Scavenger Hunt

We divided the group into three and sent them around the neighborhood to take pictures and videos. Emily took one group. Megan took one group. And Dad took the last group. I think the kids had a great time!

A few of the Scavenger Hunt Photos

After watching the scavenger hunt slideshow we sang Happy Birthday to Matt and then the kids loaded up with donuts and treats and ate outside.

Then back inside to open presents. His friends were so generous and he received some fun gifts. After a couple of gifts he opened one from Jane - an expansion piece to his Gravitrax set. His eyes got wide as he stared at it and then he said, “This gift deserves a hug!” as he jumped off the buffet (where he was sitting with two friends) and went and gave Jane a hug. She just rolled her eyes and tried to ignore him. It was so funny! This boy is confident, friendly and inclusive. Then a couple games of 4 CORNERS, some trampoline and then Dad, Emily and I served Soda Floats outside at the table. So grateful for good weather.

As the parents came to pick up his friends, Matt stood at the door and handed out candy. It was a fun night — and in Matt’s words, “IT WAS AMAZING.”
