Old Colorado City with Grandma and Grandpa

So grateful to have my parents drive out a spend a week with us. Because of Covid and meeting up other times in Utah, it had been two years since they had been in Colorado Springs. So fun to have them stay in my house and have their one-on-one attention.

They drove in on Thursday and bundled up with us to watch the boys soccer game at the St. Mary’s field.

The boys didn’t have school on Friday so we headed downtown to Bear Creek Regional Park to go on a little walk and enjoy the fall colors.

After our outing here and to Old Colorado City, we met up with Chris for an adult dinner out to our favorite Thai restaurant - NaRai Thai. Good conversation and food. Great to spend time with them. I’m appreciating every minute we get to be together.

I hadn’t taken my family here before, but I was sure my boys would love one area of this park… which looked like an old wooden obstacle course. They did. We timed them running over and through beams and walls. The boys had no problem climbing over anything. Grandpa, however, tried and failed… to be funny. The cancer in his spine and back is making it difficult to walk around for long, so we enjoyed the area for a half hour and then headed back to the van.

Luke (a month away from 14) and Matthew (12) with Grandma and Grandpa Walton. So grateful to have them here.

After Bear Creek Regional Park we headed down the street to Old Colorado Springs… a fun historic street filled with unique shops and tourist spots. We wandered in a few while my Dad waited on a bench outside. We definitely wore him out today.

Our last stop was to pick up some caramel apples to take home with us.
