Chinook Trail Track Meets - Luke and Matt

Our Middle School Track schedule was hard this year because of the boys Anglers soccer practices on Track Meet days. On other years we’ve been able to navigate both fairly well but this season was trickier. Even so, both boys wanted to give it a try. Track practice was Monday - Thursday from 3:00 - 4:30. Luke could stay at practice on Mondays and Wednesdays. Matthew just until 3:45 on Mondays and then all day Wednesday. Meets were on Tuesdays or Thursdays right during practice. Luke ran the mile and then headed to soccer practice. Matthew missed several soccer practices so he could stay for the whole meet.

Thursday, March 31st - Practice Meet at Chinook Trail Middle

The boys both ran the mile. Luke got his personal best at 6 min 5 seconds and was so excited. Way to go, Luke!!

Tuesday, April 5th - Track Meet at Chinook Trail Middle

  • Luke had a rough race with cramps in his feet, but still pulled off a 6 min 30 second race and came in 5th out of the three schools participating in the 8th grade race. (Nathan had a great race and came in third or fourth.)

  • Matthew had a solid race. Didn’t catch the time — came in 5th for the 7th grade race.

Thursday, April 7th - Track Meet at DDC

  • Luke had another tough race at 6 min 35 sec. So cold and windy. I think he was 5th again. (Only the top 4 receive points for their school.) He was pretty frustrated. The conditions were really hard.

  • Matthew woke up in the night with a stomach ache and felt weak all day so he stayed home and missed out on the Track Meet and Soccer practice. Gratefully it was short lived and he felt fine the next day.

Tuesday, April 12th - Track Meet at Timberview

  • Luke had a great race today! It was windy but not quite as bad as the two previous races. He decided to race without his sweatshirt or shirt underneath and was grateful for that decision. I told him I would time each lap, and to just race against his own time. It may have been just the motivation he needed. He came in second with a time of 6 minutes 12 seconds (but we think the race may have been about 1.1 miles which would have brought his time down to under 6 minutes, which would be a PR. So proud of him. Nathan came in third just a second behind Luke.

  • Matthew had such a great race! He came in 2nd!! His time was 6 minutes 18 seconds - (but again it could have been 1.1 mile). Definitely a PR for Matt! So proud of him.

Don’t have any notes about this race and but I’m adding the pictures anyway. These boys sure love their cross country.
