Costa Rica - Journey to Uvita Beach
Leaving our Hilltop Retreat
We loved our hilltop retreat. (We would have loved it even more if we had seen the otherwise clouded over Volcano from our peak in Paradise- but we still loved it.) We got up early, packed the cars and headed on our way from Arenal to Uvita.
Checking out the Market at the Crocodile Bridge
Halfway between Arenal and Uvita we stopped at a little marketplace at Crocodile Bridge. Suddenly it was HOT and our cozy travel pants and long sleeved sweatshirts were too hot. The sun felt so great. Fun to walk around and see some of the local market faire. Love this picture of Megan and Matt.
Crocodile Bridge over River Tarcoles
We had timed out trip to the see the crocodiles so that we were stopping during low tide - when crocodiles were more visible hanging out on the mudbanks and floating in the shallow waters. We loved it. So cool.
Lunch at Del Mar Taco Shop in Dominical
This Taco Shop in Dominical was one of my favorite meals. Delicious little Pollo Asado’s. So good! Loved all the signs and decor too!
Covid Testing
Chris woke up not feeling too great and it continued to get worse throughout the drive. After lunch he decided to take one of the Covid tests that we brought ‘just in case’. We were so grateful that it wasn’t covid. That would have really complicated things!
Dreamy Uvita Pool House
We were so excited about our pool house in Uvita. It was gorgeous! Beautiful furniture, comfortable rooms and beds and a pretty great outdoor living area and pool. We loved it here! Below- the Master bedroom for Chris and I featuring a inside/outside shower. Jon and Megan enjoyed a master with private kitchen connected to the deck.
Evening at Uvita Beach
This was one of our favorite nights of the whole trip. Perfect weather and the warmest ocean water we’ve ever swam in. We played and played until after the sun went down. What a night. After getting showered and changed back at the house we headed to grab some quick burgers and then picked up some food at the grocery store. SO many more options here than compared to the Arenal grocery store. We loaded up with food and treats and settled outside on the deck to chat about the next days plans — until the giant grasshoppers came!! : )
