Girls Trip - Sea Day and Costa Maya, Mexico
Sea Day
I woke up at 8:00am and was the first up, which would be the norm all week. Geneva woke up as I was finishing getting ready and then we all headed to the gym. Treadmill for 30 minutes and then weights with Terri and then abs in the big room. I got ready the fastest so I headed up to the deck to lay out on our chairs that we reserved with our towels and cute chair clips from G. It was windy but the sun was hot. I loved having an hour to myself to write in my journal, read and text the fam. I wasn’t sure how long we would sit there, but it was long enough to get totally burned. Yikes. I thought I put enough sunscreen on but my right side got hit hard from the sun. I sat there for an hour by myself and then another hour when the girls came. G and Terri convinced me to try the water slides and it was pretty fun. Unknowingly I had my hands up together as if I was praying so after that, I intentionally did that over and over again. It was fun afternoon.
We ate at the SAVOR restaurant and I ordered Artichoke dip and chips, Beef and Barley soup, and Bacon and chicken entree. Then back to the game room for play Missy’s HUES game - which was really fun.
Costa Maya
Woke up at 8:00 and headed upstairs to work out. An hour on the treadmill, then some weight machines, back to the room to shower and a quick breakfast before heading off the boat.
Maya has a cute port area. It was fun to wander around. Wish we had more time to sit, relax and take pictures. We walked through the entire port resort stopping quickly to take pictures of the flamingos, which we loved. Then we found the exit and met up with our group for our tour.
The four of us sat on the back seat of a 14 seater van and got to know everyone while we drove for just under an hour arriving at the Seven Color Lagoon in Bacalar. We parked and headed down to the Papitos dock to find our boat on the most stunning turquoise water.
Every direction offered a different shade of turquoise or blue. It was gorgeous!
The color of the water was unreal and was indeed several colors of blue in the same area. We took a 10 minute boat ride and then stopped so that we could get out and swim around. Our tour guide Karolina kept calling it the biggest swimming pool you’ll ever be in. Clear Fresh water, which means no coral and no fish - just beautifully clear turquoise water.
Terri brought her snorkel equipment just so she could see under the clear water. The sand was creamy and, when brought up to the surface, smelled like sulfur. Terri was the sand deliverer and we each touched it and put a bit of it on our face for little facial.
Back on the boat and back to the pier… and then back in the van. We stopped at a fun taco place on the way back. The shrimp tacos were especially good. We really wished we could have had some free time to walk through the nearby town. It was killing Geneva and I to just pass by the colorful houses and old streets without stopping. An hour back to the port and then a few minutes to wander through the port shops and watch the dolphins before heading back to the cruise ship.
