Megan - Dixie High School Soccer - October
Tuesday, October 4 - Senior Night
Dad was SO sad that he was working in Wyoming and wasn’t able to be there for Megan’s Senior Night so he sent Megan some roses with a card, which was so sweet. Meg and the team dressed up for game day.
The team mom did such a great job getting everything set up for Senior night. Cute signs, balloons, life sized stand-ups, programs and such cute stuff to make it a perfect night. So grateful. Funny story about Megan’s stand-up. At the previous game, McCall’s mom told me that when she received the stand-ups she counted them and there were only 9 instead of 10. She then found Megan’s at the bottom of the stalk but it was only 3/4 the size it should have been. It was the hobbit version of Meg. She quickly called the place and had them reprint it at the correct size. So, Meg came home with the correct size and the hobbit version of herself. haha
Pictures with our favorite player!
There was a formal ceremony before the game started. The Senior Players lined up with their parents and then walked through the D for a picture when their name was announced. Flowers for the parents and a little soccer keychain for the girls. It was a little emotional for me — and I’m sure it was for Megan too — especially when all of her teammates and coaches were giving her hugs and were crying themselves. Everyone loves Megan and it showed. Can’t believe this is her last home game.
Luke so happy to be cheering with his ‘Megan head on a stick’. His friend ran up and wanted to be in the picture too!
Fun that all the Seniors got to start this game!
The starting line up and introducing the players is so much fun. Meg got introduced as Megan Colorado Johnson tonight which was so fun!
Tuesday, October 11th - Send off for State
Dixie sure has some fun traditions. The soccer team Dinner and State Send-Off was so fun! I helped out with painting the DIXIE on the shuttle bus with a few other parents and then came back after their dinner was complete to take a few pictures and then stand with signs (I brought Megan’s yard sign and her ‘head on a stick’) and cheered as the girls ran through our parent tunnel and onto the bus.
Their first game was up in Logan so they headed up on Tuesday night and stayed in a hotel together in Layton. Even without having the number of wins they wanted, it sure is fun to make a big deal out of going to State! Go Dixie Lady Flyers!
Wednesday, October 12th - State Game in Logan
Chris and I and the boys drove from St. George to Logan in time for the game. It was a hard loss but fun to watch Megan play and have Ashlyn and her boys cheer her on as well. Several of the Seniors were crying as the game ended. That’s it for the season.
Thursday, October 27th - Dixie Soccer Banquet
Chris and I were so sad to miss out on the End of Season Banquet. Megan enjoyed having one last dinner with all of her coaches and teammates. What a fun season for her.
