Biography for the St. George Ward

Lynn, a cute lady in my ward - assigned as the Ward Biographer - came over to get to know me. We talked about my life for about an hour and it was so fun. Then I asked her about her life and it was so interesting. We’ve been friends ever since. Thought it would be fun to add the biography that she came up with after chatting with me.

Hometowns: Lisa was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She was raised outside of Vancouver, Canada. Because her husband joined the military for medical school, they spent 4 years in Montgomery Village, Maryland; 5 years in Fort Lewis, Washington; 3 years in Columbus, Georgia; 3 years in Heidelberg, Germany and settled down in Colorado Springs for 9 years before coming to St. George one month ago!

Family: Lisa was the oldest of 4 brothers and 1 sister. Her family loved the outdoors - camping and hiking. Lisa met Chris as BYU students in their singles ward after Chris returned from his mission; both came from big families that loved the outdoors. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1995 one year after meeting. They have 6 children; 3 boys and 3 girls. The oldest son served a mission in Albania and is now married and working in Oklahoma. Two daughters are attending BYU. One served a mission in Tampa Florida. Living with her at home is her daughter, Megan who is a Senior, and two sons, Luke and Matt who are in 9th and 8th grade.

Background: Lisa went to Rick’s College for 2 years and then to BYU Provo graduating in Education. Chris did his undergraduate work at BYU and joined the Army to attend Medical School and do a residency in Radiology; hence all the moving. Lisa taught 2nd grade for 2 years up to the day before she delivered her first baby. She loved teaching 2nd grade because “the kids have already learned to read and they still love their teacher!”

Hobbies/Activities: As a hobby, Lisa is a photographer as are 4 of her siblings. She loves to take pictures and write about all their travels. Her husband is a videogrphaer and will take their travels and make highlight videos to music; watching the videos is a Sunday afternoon tradition. No stretch to say that Lisa loves family history; she is all about having experiences that make beautiful memeories and recoring them. She also loves to read and share stories of her ancestors with her kids.

Interests: The johnsons are world travelers - extraordinary really! By the time they arrived in Germany, they were seasoned travelers and took every opportunity to explore Europe and much more. They have been to about 38 countries so far and their intention is to keep traveling indefinitely!

Interesting Fact: When they were in Germany, Chris was Bishop. The base was closing down, which meant the entire ward was leaving to go home all at once. They held RS meetings on all the logistics of packing up their lives and leaving their ward family - a very wonderful and emotional time.
