The Proposal
Taylor was so thoughtful to plan to propose to Katie while the boys and I were up in Midway at the Lodge.
On Sunday he waited for a time that Katie was downstairs and told Emily and I that he had the ring and would be proposing sometime this week. It was so fun being in on the surprise and texting back and forth as he set up his plan.
Tuesday he told Katie that they would be coming to hang out at the Lodge after he finished work at the MTC. He picked Katie up from babysitting and Mike and Carly’s house and they two of them headed up towards Midway.
When Taylor missed the exit and Katie questioned his mistake, Taylor told her he wanted to take her to pick up a drink — adding later that she’s quick to deceive when it involves a Diet Coke.
After the lady handed her a drink, she also passed over a little notecard with a clue to head to the local library. Taylor had put together a clever little treasure hunt with clues that led them from place to place… the library, a fudge shop, a cute German store and all over Midway before arriving at the Cafe Galleria - an adorable Italian/Swiss place with these darliing globes.
Taylor’s parents and siblings had been helping out all day - a couple steps ahead of Katie and Taylor - leaving notes, paying for fudge and finally decorating the cute globe at Cafe Galleria. Nancy and I had been communicating throughout the day and when I showed up at the restaurant to take a few pictures I immediately got emotional. Everything was just perfect and it was even lightly snowing.
Nancy and I ran inside the restaurant just as they pulled up and peered out the window as Taylor led Katie to the globe. Katie put her hand up to her mouth as she took in the table decor. They hugged and then Taylor bend down on one knee, pulled out the ring and proposed. Nancy videoed the whole thing and I took some pictures from afar before coming out of hiding to say congratulations.

So fun to be a part of this special night. After taking a few pictures we left them to enjoy dinner alone in their globe. They called Ryan and Cassie to tell them the news!
As an additional surprise to Katie, all their friends and some family were gathering at the Lodge for an engagement party! So fun!
