Prague’s ‘New Town’ at Night
After a full day at the Prague Castle we returned home, got the kids set up with dinner and a movie ready to watch and Chris, Mike, Brian and I took off for a night on the town. Wahoo! So nice to have kids old enough to babysit. They were tired out from too much walking and ‘Cathedral-seeing’ and Chris and I were overjoyed to be able to hold hands with each other instead of dragging the little guys along.
We decided to explore Prague’s ‘NEW TOWN’ saving the best (Prague’s ‘OLD TOWN’) for the next day when we’d enjoy the best weather of the weekend. Here are a few shots of Prague from the cable car as we rode into town…
When we got off the cable car we just started wandering.
Playing around on the posts… Chris and Mike got running pretty fast…
Prague’s Train Station…
The Prague Castle off in the distance…
Prague’s NEW TOWN… Below pictures the St. Wenceslas Statue. “Wenceslas is the “good king” of Christmas-carol fame. He was the wise and benevolent 10th century Duke of Bohemia. A rare example of a well-educated and literate ruler, King Wenceslas I was credited by his people for Christianizing his nation and lifting up the culture.”
Looking down the main boulevard…
Chris and I with St Wenceslas Square behind us…
I love these… even though some are blurry…
Now looking back up the boulevard. At this end we split up for a minute so I could head into one of my favorite European stores… Desigual. It has some pretty eccentric stuff but I’ve found a few things there that I love. (In fact, the shirt I was wearing this day is from there.) Chris bought me a new skirt as my ‘souvenir’ from Prague. I love it.
After exploring the New Town we snuck into the Old Town for a sneak peak. It was breathtaking. I loved seeing it all lit up but I was dying to come the next day and see it mid-day. Prague is beginning to be my new favorite European city!
The square was so busy with people and music. It really was quite magical.
When we finally got back to the apartment we pulled out some snacks and taught Mike how to play Dominion for the first time. It was so fun.
