The Pine Wood Derby for Luke

Luke was pretty excited for his second year at the Pine Wood Derby.  This year he and Dad worked on the design and carving a couple months in advance.  Then he and I worked on the painting – designed to look like a Poke ball.

We had quite the snowstorm that day so Megan’s soccer game up in Fort Collins was cancelled, as were Luke and Matt’s.  It meant we could all go to the Pine Wood Derby together – and it was really fun.  Luke was pretty sure his car was going to win, so we had a conversation about expecting that it likely wouldn’t do well and how to handle that.  It won some and lost a few more – but it was fun.  Luke won the ‘Judges Favorite’ Award at the end.
