New York City Girls Trip–Shopping in NYC
We woke up, got ready and headed outside to walk the streets of New York. We found a Europa Bakery and ate chocolate croissants and European breakfast sandwiches – which were really good – and headed to Rockefeller Plaza to buy tickets to Top of the Rock for later in the day. We even said hi to Al Roker who walked past us – which was funny since we had just barely watched him on TV as we were getting dressed. and made our way over to 5th Avenue.
St. Patrick’s Cathedral was gorgeous. “It was over 150 years ago when Archbishop John Hughes announced his inspired ambition to build the ‘new’ St. Patrick's cathedral in the New World. He was ridiculed as the proposed, near-wilderness site was considered too far outside the city, nonetheless he persisted in his daring vision of building the most beautiful Gothic Cathedral in the New World in what he believed would one day be “the heart of the city.” Fun to learn that since it truly is in the heart of the city now.
Shopping on 5th Avenue
It was fun to wander through Bergdorf Goodman. We went up to the 7th floor and picked out our favorite $200-$400 baby dresses. I had to take pictures of the wall paper all over the place. Such a pretty store – and a great view from the 4th floor women’s department.
The Plaza Hotel
We went inside the Plaza Hotel to look around. Several big movies were filmed here. Gorgeous!
While the girls were in a store next door, Liz, Megan and I went into SABON – a soap boutique and got our hands washed using about 5 different lotions and scrubs. Our hands were SO soft. It was one of the highlights of the day! Love being with these friends!
Sprinkles These cupcakes were pretty great – and such a cute store.
After shopping up 5th Avenue, getting free Lindor chocolates in the chocolate shop, checking out the Plaza Hotel, grabbing really fantastic pizza at Farinella Bakery Pizza and cupcakes at Sprinkles, we walked over to…Madison Avenue I’m really loving this city.
Love being with my girls!
Another highlight of the day was the Kate Spade Flagship Store. Such cute stuff – especially all of the New York City scarves, purses and key chains. We had fun visiting all four floors and enjoyed going out on the balcony looking over Madison Avenue.
At this point our tired legs needed to walk quickly back to the Top of the Rock so walking back on Lexington Avenue, Park Avenue, Madison Avenue and 5th Avenue really was just window shopping. Such a fun day shopping in the city.
