September–Mike and Carly, Adventure Thursdays and Dear Evan Hansen

Mike and Carly Visiting

When we got home from dropping the kids off in Provo, Mike and Carly and Whitney were here!  Chris had picked them up from the airport the night before he left for Utah.  We spent the week playing games and really got back into Dominion, which was fun.  We also watched The Quiet Place, Avengers Infinity War and went to the theaters to watch Mission Impossible.  Other than that we didn’t go anywhere – they were happy to stay home and get caught up with editing pictures and videos.  We also did a lot of talking – so much fun to reconnect and have such great conversations about parenting and life.

Whitney loves Oranges

So funny to see Whitney climb up on the island and start devouring orange slices.  So fun to get to see her personality while she was here!

Camping with Friends

It was Megan Jackson’s idea… she invited several families to camp one Friday night and we jumped on board.  We haven’t been camping as a family for so long.  We picked up Dad from work and headed over to Cheyenne Mountain State Park.  The Larsons, Egberts, and Theurers met us there.  We set up our tent and then the kids spent the evening exploring together.  So fun to have time with eachother.  Megan, Owen and Justin set off on an adventure for over an hour.  Ian, Anders, Matt and Luke wandered in and out of campsites and tents.  Emily, Emma, Maggie and Kimbyl talked and talked.   Sandwiches for dinner, smores around the campfire and lots of great talking.  Megan was the first to put herself to bed.  No surprise there.   The boys LOVED sleeping in the tent.  I wish I could say the same.  I was cold and woke up so many times in the night. : (

Pine Creek Football Games

Megan, Brynnley, Romney and Austin planned to meet up at the Pine Creek Football Homecoming Game.  Chris and Emily were in Utah with Ryan and Katie, so I decided to take Luke and Matt and meet up with the Theurers.  Fun to spy on Megan and her friends.  And Pine Creek won.  Fun night!

Dear Evan Hansen

Jon and Megan got tickets for Maggie’s 16th birthday and asked if we wanted to come along.  We surprised Emily with tickets as a THANK YOU for watching the kids while we were in Albania.  We drove with the Jacksons, ate dinner at Torchy’s Taco’s in Denver and then headed over to the Theater.  Emily knew all of the music and was so excited.  The production was amazing.  We didn’t know about the swearing, which was pretty disappointing, but the message was really wonderful and so well performed.  It was a great night.
