Trip to Pick up Ryan - Our First Night in Berat, Albania

We stayed at the Kris Guesthouse up on the mountain of the Berat Castle. It was our favorite hotel of the whole trip and ironically was the cheapest as well. We booked the downstairs bedroom which sleeps 3 and from what we discovered through reviews, was the best room. We loved it! The location was incredible and the atmosphere was perfect. The hotel had a closed courtyard where we gathered for breakfast each morning.

After checking in with our host, and putting our luggage in our room, we decided to explore the Castle. Everything was just beautiful: the views overlooking the city, the old stone walls, the alleyways filled with tiny houses, and all of the many archways. It was beautiful.

We spend several hours wandering around and taking pictures and enjoying hearing from Ryan how many times he had visited this area and his favorite things about Berat. It’s my new favorite Albanian city!

Wandering back to our hotel in these cute little stone alleyways was just magical. And what a perfect place to stay — in a cute stone room on the grounds of the Berat Castle.

Back at our little room we worked on BYU class schedules and then watched some family highlight videos. : )
