Balboa Island and Ruby's on Balboa Pier

After lunch back at our condo and face-timing with Katie on her mission, we headed back out to explore. We headed north to Balboa Island… a harbor side community located in newport Beach. It’s accessible to the public via ridge, and ferry. We drove on to the island and found a place to park.

We walked down the main street and looked in a few shops.

We walked along S. Bay Front and admired private docks and boats, some getting decorated with Christmas lights - which I’m sure is quite the site at night.

We enjoyed the beautiful sunshine, sat on Balboa Island benches and took pictures of lemon trees and succulents.

It was a fun place to walk around.

Then we went back and got our van and drove onto the ferry taking us over o Balboa Pier.

Balboa Pier

It was so fun to visit Balboa Pier. We hung out on the beach for a little bit before walking out to the end of the Pier.

Eating at Ruby’s was a big nostalgic for Chris and I. When we were dating we took a trip to California with Adam and Marilee and ate at Ruby’s on Balboa Pier. We sat in the same booth - 25 years later - and told our youngest four the story of being here with college friends. It was fun. Matt wanted to reenact the photo when Curt peaked through the window and photobombed us.

Beautiful sunset and these four: Emily (almost 17), Matt (10 1/2), Megan (14) and Luke (12)
