Matthew's Friend Birthday Party

We celebrated Matt’s birthday with the family right before I left for Germany (a week early) and with his friends the day after I got home (a couple days late) but the timing worked well. It’s always tricky to get him a party planned since May is so busy for everyone, but planning it before I left helped a lot.

Matt (and the rest of the family) are in the middle of 7 weeks with no sugar. We did, however, give Matt a free day for his friend birthday party and he picked having brownies and ice cream for his birthday treat. He was SO EXCITED to get together with these fun friends of his and have a party. Super important for a TEN year old!

Matt picked chicken kabobs with peanut sauce or chipotle sauce and veggies for dinner… Just like Anders had at his party. : )

Super excited to open presents.

I picked up one bandana for each boy just for fun. They picked their color and then tied them around their head or wore them however they wanted. Then we did some minute to win it games where two boys battled against each other. The cereal puzzle game, stacking red solo cups game, knocking over water bottles with a baseball in pantyhose, blowing little fuzzball off the side of the table before the other boy could. The boys were super competitive and seems to like it.

Funny enough, Matt took to wearing a bandana and thought it was pretty awesome. I helped him fold it so it was skinnier and he wore it to his last couple of soccer games and thought it gave him extra power and coolness. He did score a hat-trick during his next game and everyone attributed his success to his new green bandana. Then some of the other boys joined in and wore theirs. It was pretty awesome. Matt even wore it to school almost every day in May.

Then Matt decided he wanted to wear his bandana to Pride soccer tryouts. I loved the idea. He really was known for his green bandana — and it all came from this party. So funny!

The boys enjoyed some outside trampoline jumping and a little obstacle course. Anders stayed late to play a little Switch — which made things even better. So great.

Happy 10th Birthday Matt! We love you.
