Palm Springs with Katie and Annie

Since Katie and Annie became such good friends at college this year, and since they knew Marilee and I were such good friends — they concocted a plan to have a little mother-daughter vacation. They group texted us knowing that Marilee and I were an easy sell. We talked about a few different places but with two busy momma schedules we had to squeeze it into three days and picked the RITZ-CARLTON in Palm Springs for our fun. It was fantastic. We arrived on Monday and headed straight to one of the restaurants at the resort to have lunch.

Marilee checked in and got an upgrade because of her Marriott status but when we went to the room we were unimpressed with our balcony view of a single bush covering the street behind. When we went back to say we’d rather NOT be upgraded, then they gave us a walk out fire pit room and it was awesome.

We spent the 100 degree afternoon in the pool.

We hung out on our patio and then got showered and headed out for dinner at a nearby authentic Mexican place. Great atmosphere and great food! We took a few pictures outside and then Marilee and I had the great idea to pull a Adam-Chris move and take a picture just staring at each other. It’s a LONG running joke between Adam and Chris dating back to the mission but Marilee and I have never done it. We had a hard time keeping a straight face and it was pretty funny. Adam and Chris thought it was hysterical when we sent them the pictures.

Tuesday morning we headed to the Spa for massages. It was absolutely wonderful. The spa was fantastic and the massages were divine. It was so fun to share the experience with Katie — her first massage! Then we headed to the pool and stayed for hours enjoying the water and sitting in the shade. Lots of great talks and lunch by the pool.

Tuesday late afternoon we headed to a movie - Breakthrough (story about a boy falling through the icy). A perfect movie for a good cry! We loved it.

Then over to Cheesecake Factory for salads and cheesecake to go. : )

Wednesday morning we woke up and exercised and then enjoyed a fruit plate on our outdoor patio. Delicious.

After checking out of the hotel, we headed to the Palm Springs Outlet Mall for some sister missionary clothes. These friends definitely have some matching mission skirts! So fun to be going through all of this together.

Marilee and I decided we wanted something matching of our own. We found these cute Kate Spade purses and each bought one. I love it! So fun to add a Mother Daughter shopping spree to our getaway.

Marilee and Annie dropped us off at the airport and these two had to say goodbye to each other for 19 months. So sad!!
