Puerto Vallarta with Chuggs, Whites and Brienholts

Our Mexican Villa

It was so fun to stay in own little Mexican Villa. It was a gated complex right on the ocean - with security guards, cleaners and a cooking staff — and it was truly wonderful.

The view right outside the sliding glass door from our bedroom.

Top left picture is the little pool right outside the Brienholt’s and White’s rooms up on the very top level. Top right picture is our bedroom. Bottom left is a lounge TV/game room. And Bottom right is another picture of the top level pool at sunset.

Playa La Lancha

On our first morning we headed to Playa La Lancha… a local beach on the other side of a ten minute hike through the jungle. We’ve been here several times before and it’s definitely one of our favorites. Beautiful, not crowded and nobody selling anything. The boys got into an intense game of ‘don’t drop the frisbee’ and the girls walked along the beach checking out coves and sealife. The weather is just perfect.

Si Senor

Off to Si Senor for lunch. We’ve been here several times as well. Love the breezy sea-side atmosphere, the delicious menu, the colorful tapestries hanging from palm trees, the guacamole made fresh right at the table and shrimp tacos and hand-made tortillas that I get every time I come!

Spent the afternoon hanging out by the pool.

Tried a recommendation from Brian and ate at a really great restaurant downtown. They catered to our every whim and made our dining experience so great. It was a lot of fun.

So fun to wake up to this warm weather and beautiful scene. Chris and I walked along the beach and then met everyone at the table for breakfast. Such good fruit, fried potatoes and french toast! So fun having a cooking staff making whatever we want!

Boca de Tomatlán

Our group had been here once before hoping to eat lunch at the special Ocean Grill restaurant but Doug had accidentally booked reservations for the following week so we sat in the boat and then had to get off once we realized our folly. It was pretty sad. A year or two later Chris and I came with Jacksons and Theurers to hike along the coast and loved it. This time we are finally headed to the Ocean Grill.

You can get to the Restaurant by hiking or by water taxi. We came by boat this time.

The food was just fine but wasn’t the highlight of the experience. The location was. We wandered around checking out the bathrooms, eyeing the diving board and picking out the perfect table. What a place! Since our reservation was for 11:00am we practically had the whole place to ourselves.

Doug and Jared decided to try out the diving board. Of course they did. So cool!

Quimixto

We found another boat to take us to Quimixto and then walked a mile or two to a cool waterfall up in the canyon.

We got a table overlooking the waterfall and cold pool of water and ordered some drinks.

When Chris and I had been here before there was a rope to help you climb up but it has since been taken down. Still the boys tried to climb the slippery rock and slide down the rock.

Adventurous Terri and her Iguana.

After boating back to Boca de Tomatlán, we drove back up to Puerto Vallarta and ate at one of our favorite little hole-in-the-walls… Pepe’s. Great little street tacos. Everyone loved them.

Loved watching one of the locals balance rocks. Amazing.

A Day in Sayulita

Because our Mexican villa was right next to some day-time construction, the owners decided to gift us a day at their other resort up in Sayulita. We used a room/bathroom to change but otherwise relaxed by the pool with views overlooking the beach.

The owners helped us set up lounge chairs by the beach. Chris, Jared and Doug played in the surf and we enjoyed the sun. Missy bought a ‘tree of life’ from one of the vendors and then the girls picked up some cute blankets as well.

We brought clothes to change into and then headed into town to grab some tacos and gelato and explore a little bit. It’s such a vibrant colorful little town. We ate great food and loved walking down neat alleyways and checking out the shops.

Fun golf cart rides with Terri!

Morning Walk

Our Villa was in such a beautiful location. Fun to wake up and take a walk along the beach every morning.

The boys had a great day golfing and the girls stayed back at the villa to enjoy the day. The guys found and scheduled hour long massages from a company who brought all their equipment to us and set up right by the hammocks in the shade. It was amazing!! When the boys came back we ate lunch and played games before dinner.

Lobster Paradise

We picked a beautiful restaurant for dinner downtown Punta Mita. Doug spoke Spanish to… well, everyone… but a little Mexican kiddo sought him out and Doug had fun singing songs to him in Spanish — and then purchased some goods from him to be nice. He was singing Spanish songs to our servers as well. It was pretty funny!

During dinner we got a call from Emily that she made it into BYU. She seemed excited but not totally decided yet. Fun news!

Back to Playa La Lancha

— this time with little surf boards.

Another meal at Si Senor

— which I think has changed names. The BEST tortilla soup, shrimp tacos (which is what I ordered over and over this week) and of course atmosphere. One of my favorites!!

Last morning

One last fantastic breakfast of fresh fruit and french toast and a couple hours to soak up the beautiful sunny weather before driving back to the airport. Farewell Puerto Vallarta!!
