Fourth of July in Tulsa

So fun to spend the weekend in Tulsa with Ryan and Cassie. Ryan had the Fourth of July off and the next day and was able to push his Monday schedule to the next Saturday so we had FIVE days to hang out. It was the best.

We flew from Las Vegas into Tulsa and met up with Emily right after midnight. Cassie borrowed her mom’s ‘beast’ so we could drive together everywhere we went - and it was so nice!

We’d seen their house on lots of video tours but this was our first time in person. So fun to walk around and see everything they’ve done to make it updated and theirs. They are loving their open living room and kitchen and it was especially fun to see their book room.

After the tour Ryan sat us down and presented us with a slideshow presentation of the weekend plans. We’re ready for a great time!

We woke on up on the Fourth to yummy crepes and a morning of fun boardgames. It’s a tradition for Cassie’s family to make Monster Cookies for the Fourth of July and they were so good!!

Ryan and Cassie introduced us to a fun new game called Picture Perfect. Then off to PeaceWave for frozen yogurt!

Cassie made us delicious TACO FRIES for dinner and then we headed downtown Tulsa for a Minor League Baseball Game and fireworks. The perfect 4th of July night! We had fun watching several innings and worried as ominous dark clouds covered the sky. Pretty soon it was raining - and not just raining but a hefty Midwestern summer night downpour. We thought about waiting it out, but quickly realized we needed to run for cover. Hot humid and now soaking wet. When the players left the field, the field was covered, and the forecast didn’t look good for fireworks we headed home. Still, it was a fun night! Go Drillers!

Friday we drove an hour away to check out Woolaroc Wildlife Reserve. Our favorite part was this cool old settlement where we learned to throw an axe and Emily tried out shooting a hefty loud rifle. We had a delicious picnic, saw some interesting animals and it was a fun day!

Ryan excitedly showed us another new game: ARK NOVA. It’s a build your own ZOO game and it takes FOUR HOURS but it was so much fun.

Braum’s for dinner - yummy burgers and shakes for everyone - and then over to the Movie Theater to watch QUIET PLACE - Day One. We had all rewatched the other QUIET PLACE movies to prep the week before. We enjoyed it!

Then home to finish playing ARK NOVA. Em won!

Saturday we ate Breakfast Burritos and then headed over to the Gathering Place to wander through the playgrounds. The boys loved it… it’s such a fun place!

Then over to Andolini’s Pizza. The pizza’s and salads were SO GOOD! This will be one of our Tulsa favorites, I’m sure! Then over to Rose Rock Ice Cream for dessert and a walk down the street. Such cool painted walls and fun boutiques.

We took Em to the airport to catch her flight back to SLC. Saturday night we played more games.

Sunday we enjoyed going to Ryan and Cassie’s ward, playing ARK NOVA again, going for a warm walk around the neighborhood and broke our Fast for Ryan and Cassie by eating the most delicious Tortellini Soup. Monday we played pickle ball, talked, played a few more games and ate 3 Chili Tacos before heading to the airport. So proud of these two and the way they take care of each other. Grateful to be together!
