Luke’s School in the Woods Sleep Over

First I got to school and I took all my camping stuff into the boys area and then we had kind of a recess.  We played on the stilts and with the tetherball and we talked at the benches.   Thursday was like a normal school day.  After lunch we got all of our sleeping bags and things and walked to the place where we were going to camp.  The girls did the same – but to a different area that we couldn’t even see.  We put all of our stuff down  and then my friend got his poncho and we played football with it.    Then we set up all of our sleeping bags under the tarp.  Me, Ryan and Mr. Perry stayed when everyone else left to do a job of pulling all the sleeping bags under the tarp because it was raining.  We had pizza for dinner – inside because it was raining.  Then Mr. Perry read a book called ‘No Talking’ while we ate.  Then we did stations.  We went to different rooms and did different things.  One was reading a book in the dark with a flashlight and some parts of the book would glow.  Another area was S’MORES outside.  First we went around one camp fire and talked about camping memories.  Then we moved to the next table and made S'mores but it was really quick.  It was all black and brown because I burned it but it was the best s'more in the world.  Then I ate it while we kept talking.  Then we rotated to another station.   Then we did Night Vision with Mr. Perry.  He was acting like a pirate and he told us to sit down and told us a pirate story.  We had to cover one eye throughout the whole story and then at the end our eye that was covered got used to the dark and we could see better.  Then we each got a paper and did a fun activity with crayons and papers in the dark.   After the stations were done, they we all grabbed our backpacks and went to our campsite.  And then we got dressed in our sleeping bag and then we talked and talked and talked until they said, “Ok, no more talking – just reading.” And then we read for 2 minutes and they we were tired so we went to sleep.    Soon it started raining but I was still asleep.  I woke up hearing coyotes.  We went to bed at 9:30.

I woke up at about 7:00.  It took awhile for everyone to wake up.  When we all woke up then we got ready and talked some more.  We packed up all our stuff.  They we went on a morning hike and saw some of the burned area of the Black Forest Fire.  Then we had breakfast – muffins (Your muffins are better, Mom)  and grapes and fruit and bananas and hot chocolate and oatmeal and orange juice.  Then we switched into groups and we did journal writing, got tracks (dollars for the people who were good) and then went back to our camp to finish packing up everything.  Then they released all the kids to go to the lunch tables outside and then we had another recess.  Then we had a snack and got all our stuff ready and carried them to the parking lot.  And then we left.
