Phuket - Villa and Pool
Such a great relaxing day. The boys woke up early and headed off to the golf course. I think they had a great time. The interesting thing about Thai Golf is that they had women caddies who drove their golf cart’s, gave them golfing advice and clapped and cheered for all of their successes. They even consoled them when their shots weren’t great. The funny part was that Doug’s caddy wouldn’t give him the time of day. Pretty hilarious to hear their stories!!
We girls slept in and had breakfast at nine. Then we hung out by the pool for three hours, which was wonderful. The sun here is so hot so we could only manage to be in the sun for a few minutes before either switching to the shade or jumping in the pool. We looked through pictures and sent them to each other, talked about everything, and reapplied sunscreen multiple times.
Our rental house in Phuket was amazing. Two of the suites were right off of the courtyard and two suites were upstairs above the kitchen. Our place came with two maids who prepared great breakfasts for us with whatever food we bought for them to use. We arrived late the first night so they even did some shopping for us. These days in Phuket were definitely the ‘vacation’ part of our trip. I’m sure we missed out on a lot of great things to see in and around Phuket — but the relaxing was well worth it!
At 12:30 we decided to head out for lunch. We got dressed and headed to the shops and restaurants by Naithon Beach. We found a great German restaurant which sounded so good. And we really loved it. We had the best salads, fried potatoes and schnitzel. Then we spent three hours sitting and talking about life, neurofeedback, marriage, our kids, trials and blessings. It was good therapy. We then changed back into our bathing suits and wandered across the street to the beach. Beautiful white sand and clear warm turquoise water. We waded in and stood around talking for another hour. Lots of talking. No pictures. Such a great day.
(The heartbreaking part of this day was that I learned that Ryan‘s roommate, was in a ski accident and was life flighted to the University of Utah Hospital to have back surgery. It was an emotional day receiving texts from Ryan and Katie and Marilee with the latest updates which I then relayed to my friends. I feel so devastated for his parents and so grateful for Ryan’s roommates and the bond they have together.)
We spent the evening with the boys. We headed back to the SAME German restaurant for dinner. We had the same waitress and she laughed when she saw us again. Then we headed to 7-Eleven, again! We wandered the aisles looking for interesting things, laughing about everything, and picked up some more water and unique snacks. Magnum bars for some but not for me. Too full. Then the Johnson and Breinholt car headed on a hunt for fruit. We stopped at 3 Mini markets looking for mangoes and finally got good directions to a fruit stand that was still open at 10 PM. What an adventure. I’m amazed at how much this area of Thailand reminds me of Mexico.
