A Quick Transition

After returning from President Roger’s house we changed into comfy Christmas clothes and gathered around the tree for Katie to open a few presents… a few new sweaters, AirPods, a hammock and a stocking full of make up, toiletries, jewelry and games.

The Jackson family stopped by with cookies to say HI and WELCOME BACK to Katie. So nice of them!

We ate cookies and Squammish Bars as we introduced Katie to QUIXX and then watched ONWARD downstairs. And then got stuck watching so many home videos. It was so fun. Poor Katie had been awake since 6:30am Florida time which was 4:30am our time so she was tired but happy heading to bed.

Even without much sleep, Katie woke up first. When she found no one else up, she snuggled up in the living room and read her scriptures by the Christmas tree. Dad woke up and headed to his orthodontist appt. Katie and I worked out together and then sat in the sauna together for a half hour. We got ready, took a few more pictures and then after Katie’s dentist appointment we headed down to the Promenade Shops at Briargate to do a little shopping. Ryan started with us but then headed home while Dad, Katie, Emily and I stayed to shop. Emily bought some jeans at Anthropologie and Katie and I spent an hour in Athleta trying on clothes and finding the perfect black leggings and showing each new outfit to Dad and Emily who sat in chairs and waited for us. Then a late lunch at Biaggi’s. So fun to be together.

When we got home we pulled all of Katie’s suitcases to the main floor and helped her unpack all of her mission clothes and souvenirs and then repack everything she needed for college. So many bins and piles but we worked together to organize things and get Ryan’s car packed. Scott and Amy came over to say hi and we were thrilled to see them. We talked for an hour and Katie shared some mission highlights and answered questions. We love the Richins.

It was a short day and a half but we packed a lot in. Excited for a week at the lodge as Katie transitions to college life.
