Norway Cruise - Arrival in London

We left the house for the Denver Airport at 4:00pm for our 8:00pm overnight flight. Chris and I talked about travel plans for two hours before I tried to sleep but it was hard. Twitchy leg, cold feet… just uncomfortable.

We landed at Heathrow International Airport on Friday morning. Chris an I picked up our luggage and took the tube and then the bus to Moxy… a cute urban hotel (in the Marriott family) that Brian had arranged for us.

After a quick change we met up with Brienholts and Missy. (Doug flew in later straight from Wyoming and the Chuggs stopped in Iceland before arriving to London later that night.)

To try and stay away in our new European time zone we headed on the bus and tube into

Central London

Nando’s

Hungry, we headed straight for Nando’s… one of the most famous fast-food chains in London. Nando's is a South African restaurant chain that specializes in Portuguese-style chicken dishes, and since Brian served his mission in Portugal it was exactly what he was looking for. We enjoyed the contemporary restaurant design and interesting wall art. It was a great first meal together.

We enjoyed walking around Picadilly Circus and finding the Kath Kidston Store - not too many interesting Londony prints this time but it was still fun. Just walking around London with it’s curved white architecture and red double-decker buses was great.

Red Telephone Booth

And of course a trip to London wouldn’t be complete without a Telephone Booth picture. Missy lived in England for 3 years so being here was bringing back so many good memories.

Buckingham Palace

The Westminster Abbey

The London Eye

The Tower Bridge

Our little excursion on the tube to the Tower Bridge was really fun since this was a first for Chris and I. Always great to explore something new.

Gelato in Piccadilly Circus

We ended the night getting the best Gelato in the Piccadilly Circus area and then taking the tube home. We were definitely successful in staying up but were so tired that we laughed at anything and everything on the way home. It was so fun! It’s going to be the BEST week.
